Bio

Professor Jang Ha Oh has been a faculty member in the Kinesiology, Health, and Athletics Division since January 2002 and is entering his eighth season as the head men's cross-country coach, after leading the women’s soccer team for 17 years at Sacramento City College (SCC).

Professor Oh came to SCC from Houston, TX, where he taught health classes and was the head coach of club soccer teams. He worked at both the University of Houston and the College of the Mainland in Texas City, TX, for over eight years. He completed doctoral coursework in Exercise Epidemiology at the University of Houston. Prior to that, he earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Seoul National University, where he also served as a part-time lecturer.

In 2004, Professor Oh coached youth soccer teams at Elk Grove United Club, a competitive U18 girls’ team based in Elk Grove, CA. He was the head coach of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) U14, U15, and U16 girls’ teams from 2005 to 2007 and again from 2011 to 2012 and served as a State ODP evaluator for three years. He was also part of the coaching staff for the California North State ODP teams for over four years, from 2018 to 2023. He coached U16 girls in 2009 and U17 girls in 2010 for El Dorado United Club and Folsom Surf, where he remained for five years. Professor Oh served as a USSF coaching license instructor from 2013 to 2018.

Currently, he teaches health-related courses such as Healthy Eating, Stress Management, Weight Control, and Health Education for the department.

He is a native of Jeju, South Korea, and resides in El Dorado Hills, CA.
