Wrestling finishes 2nd at the SCC David Pacheco Invitational to officially open up the 2025 season
The Panthers Men's Wrestling Season started off with a 2nd place finish in a 11-team field at the Sac City David Pacheco Invitational. Leading the way were tournament champions, Billy Thornton at 133 lbs and Josiah Sandoval at 149 lbs. Thornton won the 125 pound title with a 4-0 record on the day, capped off by a 1st period fall over Cairo Plascencia from Fresno City College. Sandoval won the tournament's largest weight class (29 competitors) with a 5-0 record, including two falls, two major decisions, and a technical fall. In his finals match, he defeated #1 seed, Kenny Rodgers from Fresno City with a 19-8 Major Decision. Other placers included Ken Fernandez (4th at 133), Aaron Garcia (6th at 157), Munther Saleh (3rd at 174), Calin Capra (4th at 174), Adam Arvizu (5th at 184), Vaea Salt (3rd at 197), Grady Cloyd (5th at 197), Ahmad Wahedi (2nd at 220), and Peyton Reiser (5th at 285). The Panthers will be back in action on Saturday, September 27th at the Lemoore College Golden Eagle Invitational, which will feature 21 of the 23 teams in the state.
