A look back at the Panthers 2016 Volleyball season
The Panthers Volleyball team finished up the 2016 season with an overall record of 22 wins and 4 losses. They entered Big 8 Conference play with a perfect 8-0 record and would start the season on a 14-game winning streak (including a perfect 11-0 in the month of September). City finished as the Big 8 Conference Runner-Ups with a 13-3 record. Sophomores, Keeley Franz and Kassidy Rauh were named to the All-Big 8 Conference 1st Team and Sam Kepler was a 2nd Team Selection. Rauh led the Conference with 10.70 Assists per Set. Franz led the Conference with 4.48 Kills per Set, was 3rd overall with 376 Kills, 3rd with a .289 Hitting Percentage and 2nd with 0.50 Service Aces per Set. Keeley Franz was also selected as a CCCWVCA All-Northern California player.
SCC would advance to the 2nd round of the Nor-Cal Regional Playoffs before being eliminated by cross-town rival and fellow Big 8 Conference Sierra College in 5 sets. 13 of the Panthers 22 wins came by sweeping their opponents.
Another highlight of the season was Coach Nash's 300th victory, coming at home on September 7th against Shasta College. Her Panthers finished with a 12-1 record at home during the season. The volleyball team will lose 5 sophomores, all of whom were starters this season for the Panthers.
