Panthers Power Past Ohlone 9–2 in Statement Road Win
Fremont, CA — Sacramento City College turned in a complete team performance on Friday, using timely hitting and strong pitching to knock off Ohlone College 9–2 at The OC. With the win, the Panthers improved to 22–19, while the Renegades dropped to 31–10.
Mayberry Ignites Offense with 5-RBI Game
Right fielder Tyson Mayberry delivered the biggest swings of the game, going 3-for-5 with five RBIs, including a towering 3-run home run in the ninth that put the game out of reach. He also laced a 2-run double in the fifth to help break open a tight game.
Cal Elvis got the Panthers on the board in the second inning with a 2-run home run, scoring Mayberry after a leadoff single. Dom Agrella added an RBI single in the fifth to extend the lead to 5–0.
Zamora and Sawyer Combine for Strong Effort on the Mound
Starting pitcher Ryan Zamora was sharp for Sac City, scattering four hits and one run over six innings while striking out five to earn the win and improve to 4–0 on the season. Nick Sawyer handled the final three innings, giving up one run to earn his first save.
The Panther pitching staff didn't allow a single extra-base hit until the ninth and held Ohlone to just 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
Drake Stays Hot, Panthers Flash Leather
Second baseman Lucas Drake continued his torrid stretch at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a double, while also helping turn two of Sac City's three double plays. The Panthers played error-free defense behind their pitchers, while Ohlone committed two costly errors.
