Panthers season comes to an end with a 13-7 loss to Sierra at the Quincy Super Regional
Sierra Beats Sac City, 13–7, Behind 15-Hit Attack and Martinez's One-Hit Start
Sierra College stormed into Quincy and left with a statement win on Friday, using a relentless offensive attack and a dominant start from Anthony Martinez to beat Sacramento City College, 13–7. The Wolverines (31–13) piled up 15 hits and scored in five different innings, capitalizing on four Sac City errors to notch their 31st win of the season.
Ferrante and Redding Fuel Sierra's Fast Start
Sierra wasted no time jumping ahead, scoring six runs in the first two innings. Cody Ferrante's bases-clearing double in the first opened the floodgates, and he added another RBI in the second on a fielder's choice. Catcher Jake Redding added a sac fly as the Wolverines raced out to a 6–2 lead.
Ferrante finished the day 3-for-5 with 3 RBIs, while Redding went 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs and a walk, leading a lineup that saw eight different players collect hits.
Six-Run Fifth Buries Sac City
After a brief lull, Sierra broke things wide open in the fifth with a six-run outburst. Deven Carter singled in a run, Owen Faith crushed a two-run homer, and RBI hits followed from Nathan Erickson, Cowen Meyer, and Redding to make it 12–3. Faith's home run was his only hit, but it gave Sierra a commanding lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Martinez Dominates; Edwards Slams the Door
On the mound, Anthony Martinez (W, 1-0) was effectively wild, throwing six no-hit innings while striking out nine despite walking nine. The only hit he allowed came in the sixth inning before giving way to Sebastion Edwards, who pitched the final three innings to earn the save.
Sacramento City (24–22) scratched together a late rally, scoring three runs in the eighth behind RBIs from Levi Sotomayor, Tyson Mayberry, and Kaden Isola, but couldn't overcome the early deficit.
